Since replacement nose pieces and nose pads that are round in shape are available in relatively small sizes, they have a smaller surface area and therefore provide optimum eye glasses weight distribution for small or light weight eyewear frames.
As round eyeglass pads for optical frames have a symmetrical shape, a left nose pad can be interchanged with a right nosepad. Round nose pads are available in a variety of materials including soft silicone, thinnest and lightest weight polycarbonate (PC), and soft firm PVC. These mounting styles are also commonly referred to as push-in, screw-in, and slide-in rimless mounts respectively.
