Screw-On Nose Pads
Screw-on nose pads and nose pieces for glasses are sometimes referred to as screw-in nose pads.  Screw on nose pads are the most popular type of nose pad mount used today.

Screw-on nose pads are characterized by a protruding flange at the backside of the nose pad.  At the end of this flange, which resembles a thin rectangular tab, is a small hole that completely goes through the flange.

The screw-on glasses pad mount consists of a wire stem that is attached to a housing that resembles an very small opened box-like structure.  This structure contains a hole on each of  two opposing sides of the box. Each hole extends all the way through each side of the box structure.

The above described nosepad insert back-side flange is placed within this box whereby a small nose pad screw enters one side of the box, goes through the hole of the nose pad, and then is screwed into place at the other end of the box structure.  The nose pad is thus held securely into place.
